Introduction to Parent and Child fostering

As a carer, there are a number of types of fostering that you could do, and one of these is called Parent and Child fostering. This is when a mother and/or father and their new baby or young child come into the care of a Parent & Child carer, where they can learn, in a safe environment, how to look after their child by themselves.

What you will learn

  • What caring for a parent and their child involves.
  • How it differs from other kinds of fostering.
  • The importance of keeping records.
  • Appearing in court.
  • How to support the parent and child.
  • How to become a Parent and Child foster carer.

The course is broken into manageable online units and includes knowledge checks or quizzes where appropriate. Progress saves automatically, so learners can pause and return on any device.
