Fostering practice

Continuing Care

*Note - this course refers to a type of arrangement only available in Scotland. The equivalent is 'Staying Put' in England, and 'When I'm Ready' in Wales. You will find the relevant courses in the course catalogue. Continuing Care was introduced by the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014.

What you will learn

  • How a Continuing Care arrangement works.
  • How it might benefit cared-experienced children.
  • What to expect, and questions to ask yourself when considering offering a ‘Continuing care’ placement.

How the course works

The course is broken into manageable online units and includes knowledge checks or quizzes where appropriate. Progress saves automatically, so learners can pause and return on any device.

A certificate is available when all required course elements are completed successfully.
