Communicable Diseases
A communicable disease is one that can spread from one person to another. The term covers a wide range of diseases, from chickenpox and the common cold to tuberculosis and HIV. Whilst they obviously range in severity, the ways we can avoid them in the first place and prevent or minimise the spread are relatively similar.

- Concise and practical information about various types of communicable diseases.
- The role vaccinations play in suppressing many communicable diseases.
- How to protect yourself and the children in your care from communicable diseases, including practical advice about keeping your home environment as hygienic as possible. NB: This course does not include information about Covid-19, as there are separate courses dedicated to this. We will also not be talking about diseases such as Ebola and the Zika virus, which are less likely to be found in the UK.
How the course works
The course is broken into manageable online units and includes knowledge checks or quizzes where appropriate. Progress saves automatically, so learners can pause and return on any device.
A certificate is available when all required course elements are completed successfully.
